(Sorbopyrus auricularis) This attractive, newly rediscovered variety features fruit similar to Shipova, but on a much smaller, 6-8 foot tall tree. It is very early bearing and produces good crops of sweet, delicious, seedless, yellow-orange fruit with delicate, rose-like aroma and a flavor similar to Asian Pear. Hardy to -25°F (USDA zone 4), Baby Shipova is self-fertile and should begin to bear fruit 2-3 years after planting, eventually producing 20+ pounds of fruit at maturity.
Self-fertile (does not need to be planted near a different variety in order to produce fruit).
