4 Way #2 Apple Combination (Semi-Dwarf)
Get 4 apple varieties on one tree with our 4 Way Combo Disease Resistant apple tree. These trees have been grafted with four of the following five varieties: Spartan, Honeycrisp, Chehalis, Akane and Liberty.
No need to plant a second tree for cross-pollination since the different varieties on this tree will pollinate each other.
These trees will have nearly 3/4" thick trunks (11/16" caliper).
Please look at our Liberty and Honeycrisp listings for variety info on those. Following is info on the other 3 possible varieties that you may find on your tree:
Akane
An easy choice due to great disease resistance and reliable fruit production. Medium sized red and yellow apples are crisp and juicy. Dense white flesh is sweet and tart. Ripens in September. Excellent for fresh eating, drying or dessert. Does not keep well. Pollinate with any other apple on this list except Gravenstein. A WSU Mt Vernon recommended variety.
Chehalis
This old favorite was discovered north of Chehalis WA in 1937. This is a large, sweet yellow apple that resembles Golden Delicious in looks and flavor but it is crispier and larger. This is a reliable, highly productive variety well suited for organic growers; it is highly resistant to scab and has good mildew resistance. Fruit ripens in September. Great for fresh eating and for baking and saucing.
Spartan
This upright, spreading variety produces crisp, juicy, dark red, dessert apples that can be harvested in early October. It's one of the best red-skinned varieties and the fruit will keep well for several months if they are stored correctly. Raised in Canada in 1926, it's ideal for a medium sized garden, where it can be appreciated for its ornamental beauty as well as its harvest.
