Reliance, Peach (Semi-Dwarf)
Discovered in New Hampshire in 1964, Reliance is a very hardy peach variety that produces heavy crops of tasty, medium sized freestone fruit with firm, yellow flesh. While this peach is delicious eaten fresh, it really shines as a canning and baking peach. The fruits feature firm flesh that holds up very well when cooked, cling-free stones that make processing a quick affair and a pleasing flavor that is a nice balance of sweet and tart. A reliable selection for northern orchards, Reliance is one of the hardiest of all peach trees with a late bloom that is unlikely to be hit by late frosts. This variety has shown some resistance to peach leaf curl in our orchard, but will still require regular spraying to keep this nasty disease in check.
Self-fertile (does not need to be planted near a different variety in order to produce fruit).
